The Nebraska Agri-Business Association filed comments with the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Pesticide Programs supporting Bayer Cropscience’s application for the registration of low-volatility Dicamba products.
Among the comments, Association President Scott Merritt stated, “While other chemistries exist, a diverse selection of crop protection products is vital to combat herbicide resistance and maintain long-term soil health. Palmer amaranth and water hemp have increasingly become a challenge for Nebraska farmers in the crop protection programs. The need for options in weed control will become more important moving forward to ensure farmers can maintain yields and limit the spread of resistant weed populations.”
